Imphal, March 29 2010:
Even as the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has been continuing with their cease work strike for the last couple of months demanding payment of arrears together with implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission in totality, Government functions remain largely unaffected.
This was stated by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi while talking to media persons during his inspection visit to Maphou Dam today.
Ibobi who is also in charge of Finance Department categorically reiterated that pay scales recommended by the 6th Central Pay Commission would be implemented with effect from April 1 but there is no possibility of paying arrears together with salaries.
On the other hand, a meeting of the Committee of Officers was held this afternoon with the Chief Secretary in the chair.
The meeting deliberated on the Government's initiative to implement recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission as well as necessary orders that should be issued before April.
Interestingly, the question of arrear did not figure in the meeting.
