Delhi sensitised on sanctity of integrity of Manipur

Imphal, September 28 2022: The Indian Government might be indifferent if the territorial integrity of Manipur is affected but the people of the State are ready to lay down their lives willingly in order to protect the territorial integrity.

Meira Paibi leader Lourembam Nganbi said this during the 22nd Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day observation jointly organised by Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) today at Keishamthong Top Leirak.

There should be no boundary issue in Manipur if the Government protects the actual boundary but the issue of incursion by Myanmar inside the Manipur border is due to negligence of the Government, she added.

Maintaining that it is unacceptable for Manipur to sacrifice its land in India's move to appease Myanmar, Nganbi added that the people of the State will stand their ground to protect their land.

She added that Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day was observed to remember the mass rally of September 28, 2000 organised by women organisations and representatives from 39 different communities of the State.

The Government should understand the stand of the people and bring amicable solutions to issues rather than coercing the people, she added.

Regarding the implementation of ILP in the State, she questioned the Government if the system was enforced in toto in the State and demanded a whitepaper on its implementation.

She also said the recent decision of the Government to lift the ban on liquor is very unfortunate.

Adding that the forceful implementation of policies and programmes against the will of the people by the Indian Government has been blindly followed by the State Government for a long time and is against the democratic principles, Nganbi said the time has come for the State Government to work in the interest of the people.

The Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day observation was also attended by Oinam Premjit, vice chairman observation committee; Robin Singlai, chairman Haomi Research Guild; Ross Mangshi Haokip, retired Professor GP Women's College and Professor Abdul Hakim Saha, GP Women's College as presidium members.
