Imphal, October 23 2024: Kakching police have arrested the person who looted over Rs 6 lakh from the Kakching branch of UCO Bank on October 16 at around 3 pm, today.

The arrested person has been identified as Naorem Romio (51) s/o (L) Gourahari of Paji Leikai Keithel Macha Pareng.

Notably, Romio came in a two wheeler vehicle and looted Rs 6,49,000 at gun point from the cash counter of the bank located at Kakching Bazar Ningthou Leikai Khongnang Mari Phangba.

Kakching police launched a series of search operations after monitoring the CCTV footage of the nearby surrounding area of the bank and Pukrambam Pareng shortly after the looter escaped from the spot.

Accompanied by commando personnel Kakching police rushed to Paji Leikai Keithel Macha Pareng based on specific information today afternoon and arrested Romio from his residence.

Interrogation is underway to recover the stolen money and find out if other people are involved in the bank heist.

Romio came to the bank with a small arm on October 16 at around 3 pm and looted the bank.
