Imphal, September 16 2026: The State Government has been conferred the Best Performing State among Hilly and Northeastern States award under the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025 by the NITI Aayog.

In the open category, Delhi topped the list, followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chandigarh.

Manipur was recognised as the Best Performing State among the Hilly & North Eastern States, marking a significant achievement for the State in the field of electric mobility.

The award recognises the State's efforts and performance in promoting electric mobility and sustainable transportation, and is a significant milestone in Manipur's ongoing efforts towards accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and developing an enabling ecosystem for clean mobility.

The award was received on behalf of the Government of Manipur by a team headed by RK Dinesh Singh, Principal Secretary (Transport).

The team comprised Laltanpuii, Special Secretary (TCI); Kh Diana Devi, Director (Transport); Priyoranjan, MSPDCL; and Kh Sanjeevkumar, DTO, Imphal West.

The recognition reflects the coordinated efforts of the Transport Department, Power Department, MAHUD and other stakeholders in advancing the State's electric mobility agenda.

Manipur has been undertaking various initiatives to facilitate the transition towards cleaner modes of transportation, including measures for strengthening electric mobility infrastructure and promoting sustainable transport solutions.

The active participation, awareness and proactive adoption of e-mobility by the people of Manipur have also contributed significantly to this journey, said the State Transport Department.

The recognition by the NITI Aayog will further encourage the State Government to intensify its efforts towards creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable transportation system in Manipur.

The Government of Manipur remains committed to promoting innovative and environmentally sustainable mobility solutions and strengthening the electric mobility ecosystem in the State, with the continued support and participation of the people, added the department.
