IMC resumes

Imphal, April 05 2021: The Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) has resumed collection and disposal of waste materials scattered and piled up at different places within its jurisdiction.

After removing waste materials from Khwairamband Keithel and surrounding areas today, a team of IMC led by Mayor L Lokeshore and some Corporators removed waste materials piled up in front of the Chief Minister's bungalow and the Manipur Police headquarters.

Speaking to media persons after removing the waste materials, IMC Public Health and Sanitation Chairman H Nutanchandra said that garbage and waste materials could not be collected as the same could not be disposed at Lamdeng Solid Waste Management Treatment Plant for some days and this was followed by Yaoshang festival.

Informing that collection and disposal of waste materials has resumed from today, Nutanchandra appealed to all the people not to scatter or dispose waste materials at market areas and other public places.

He said that the responsibility of keeping Imphal city clean and sanitary could not be entrusted to the IMC alone.

Drawing attention of the Chief Minister, Nutanchandra said that the sanitary works being executed by IMC are not done in personal interest.

He claimed that their sanitary works are in line with the Chief Minister's vision to keep Imphal city neat and clean, and make it a green city.

Removal of waste materials from Sagolband side has been completed and maximum efforts are being invested to remove waste materials from Lamlong, Singjamei and Thangmeiband areas one after another, Nutanchandra said.

He lamented that nobody seemed to acknowledging how IMC employees went down Naga River and scavenge the river a few days back.

He then appealed to the Chief Minister to invest necessary fund in IMC.

He also appealed to the State Government to evict the encroachers who have been building different structures right in front of Manipur Dance College.

He also appealed to all NGOs to resume collection of waste materials from their respective areas.
