Imphal, May 27 2023:
NPP Manipur State unit president N Kayisii has rejected the claim that he, Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip went together and met NPP National president Conrad Sangma.
After Cabinet Minister Nemcha Kipgen uploaded a group photo of herself, fellow Cabinet Minister Letpao Haokip, NPP Manipur State unit president N Kayisii and NPP National president Conrad Sangma on her Facebook page which could serve as an evidence of the three of them meeting the NPP president together, N Kayisii made a clarification before media persons at his Lamphelpat quarters today.
Kayisii categorically stated that he never went together with Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip or met the NPP National president together.
"I went to Delhi on May 21 to attend a National executive meeting of NPP.
After the meeting, I stayed at Delhi from May 24 to 26 for medical diagnosis", Kayisii said.
Saying that he is not taking side with any of the groups over the present crisis, the NPP State unit president stated that NPP is in favour of a united Manipur where all the communities live together in peace and harmony.
Kayisii said that he went to Conrad Sangma's room last evening to inform Sangma that he would be leaving for Imphal this morning.
Four people including Conrad Sangma, Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip were there in the room.
"Although I did not know what they were talking about, Nemcha Kipgen was saying, 'There are many Kukis in Meghalaya, please look after them'", Kayisii conveyed.
In the next moment, Letpao Haokip was saying something about the Lok Sabha election, he recounted.
"Except for these, I did not hear anything.
I was not a part of their meeting nor did I pay any attention", Kayisii said.
The truth can be known from the video footage, he said.
"After telling Conrad Sangma that I would be leaving for Imphal this morning, I was about to leave the room.
"At that moment, Nemcha Kipgen proposed that a group photo be taken and Conrad Sangma insisted that I too should be there in the group photo.
That was how the group photo was taken", Kayisii clarified.
"Uploading the particular photo on Facebook with a caption that I was also present at the meeting was something unbecoming of a public leader", the NPP Manipur State unit president decried.
