Kangpokpi, May 27 2023:
The violence in the BJP-ruled Manipur State is so volatile that even the ruling BJP leaders and workers are not safe anymore in 'Inner Manipur', said BJP Manipur State secretary Paokam Haokip to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and the BJP National spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra during the latters' visit to the district yesterday.
He continued that Inner Manipur is not safe even for the BJP leaders and workers belonging to the Kuki community to work.
There are Ministers, MLAs and thousands of workers and karyakartas of BJP apart from many other leaders from the Kuki community in Manipur who work for the welfare of the people, Paokim said.
Saying that they, however, are not in the position to return to the 'Inner Manipur' to work for the party as the party's president and the Chief Minister could not even save them, Paokim apprised the Central leaders of the urgent need to take up an alternative arrangement in the form of separate administration to enable the party leaders and workers from the Kuki community to work peacefully.
He also maintained that invoking Article 356 can solve 50 per cent of the problems and pave the way to initiate the peace process.
Meanwhile, BJP Sadar Hills president Thangjamang Kipgen said that his village Bongbal Khullen had been burnt down completely.
He urged the Central leaders to install permanent security posts at various strategic locations in the Bongbal Khullen area under the Island Sub Division in Kangpokpi district.
Saying that Bongbal Khullen is a hypersensitive zone, he added that the locals prefer deployment of Assam Rifles, paramilitary forces and the Army as the villagers no longer trust the State force.
"When N Biren Singh has no authority to pull the string, only then we will start believing in the peace process," said another Kuki leader to the visiting Central leaders.
