Heavy rain erodes soils of electric poles

Moreh, May 19 2022: Incessant rainfall lashing Moreh border town for the past few days has eroded the soil that fasten the electric posts installed along NH102.The soil around four-pole electric posts installed near the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner Moreh, Chikim village has eroded due to heavy rainfall, causing fear among people living nearby.

Speaking to the media, M Limchung Haokip, owner of a house close to said electric poles, expressed fear that more rainfall might result in the poles falling on his house.

He also lamented that in-spite of reporting about the precarious situation to the Electricity Department, Moreh no one has come to check the same.

Limchung further cautioned that if any unwanted incident occurs due to collapse of the electric posts then the responsibility should be borne by the government.
