AR pays tribute to brave-heart

Imphal, November 15 2022:
Mantripukhri Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony on Tuesday for rifleman Jai Prakash Oraon SC of 4 Assam Rifles (G/5008469A), who was killed in action (KIA) on November 15,2017.According to PRO IGAR, Prakash succumbed to his injuries after being attacked by a group of insurgents on the fateful day.
He was part of a Road Opening Party at Chamol Top, Sajik Tampak when at around 5:30 pm, on reaching SIKH LI Moreh the column was fired upon by a group of insurgents, in which Oraon sustained bullet injuries on his chest.
Despite being hit and grievously wounded, he neutralised one insurgent and injured one more, and by his actions saved the lives of other members of the operational column and laid down his life in supreme sacrifice for the nation, said the release.
It also informed that Sajik Tampak Battalion conducted a wreath laying ceremony to honour Jay Prakash Oroan of 4 AR at Battalion headquarter, Sajik Tampak, Chandel district on Tuesday.
The ceremony was witnessed by a team of four officers, 17 JCOs and 50 other ranks, who offered salute for the supreme sacrifice of the brave-heart.
