Assam Rifles conducts wreath-laying ceremony

Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a wreath-laying ceremony for rifleman CB Sunar of 4 Assam Rifles, who gave his life for the country.
On August 31, 1969, a column of 4 AR was conducting road opening duty on the Kharasam-Chingjara road in Imphal when they were ambushed by an unknown insurgent group.
Despite retaliating, rifleman CB Sunar sustained a gunshot wound and died, making the ultimate sacrifice for the country, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release issued on Saturday.
AR honoured CB Sunar by laying wreaths at the War Memorial, followed by a speech on the rifleman's bravery.
Two officers, four junior commissioned officers and 40 other ranks of AR paid tribute by laying wreath and according a guard of honour, the release added.
