Chandel communities celebrate harvest festival

Kakching, October 23 2024: Anal, Monsang, Moyon and Lamkang Tribes of Chandel district celebrated fresh seasonal harvest at their respective villages on Wednesday.

The festival is held on 'Autumnal New Year' with the Anal tribe celebrating it as 'Chavan Kumhrin', Monsang as 'Buwhrin Eesha', Moyon as 'Buwrenpeh' and Lamkang as 'Chavan Kumren' .

The festival is marked by offering to the almighty the first paddy harvest of the year along other crops and seeking blessing for bountiful harvest in the next season along with presentation of traditional songs and dances, culminating with community feasts.

'Chavan Kumhrin' celebration was held at Anal villages including Lambung, Panchai, Hnahringkhu, Chandel Christian, Hnatham, Riverlane, Kanankhu, Modi, Lamphou Pasna, Larong Khullen, Anal Khullen, Chakpikarong, Toupokpi, Maribung, Kambhathel, Beru Unopat, Berukhudam, Thungcheng, Banghring, Beru Wangkhem, Nungpan etc.
