AR holds plantation drive, awareness campaigns

Imphal, August 31 2024: Assam Rifles on Friday conducted a mass tree plantation along with the locals across Ukhrul district and planted 3000 saplings.

According to PRO IGAR (S), the initiative was a step towards ensuring that future generations inherit a world as green and vibrant as the one we cherish today.

On the other hand, Assam Rifles organised a career awareness campaign for local youth at Sorde village in Kamjong district with the aim of encouraging them to join the Security Forces.

Forty eight locals including 4 representatives from Sorde village council and school children attended the campaign, the PRO conveyed.

Similarly, an awareness lecture on medical aspects which included snake bite, infectious diseases, alcohol and drug abuse was held at S Khullen village in Churachandpur district on Thursday.

The Assam Rifles stationed at Shangshak on Thursday also provided postpartum lifesaving medical aid to a pregnant lady, who while travelling from Tusom village to Ukhrul district hospital, went into labour en-route at Shangshak Khullen village and delivered a child.

The local residents and village authorities including relatives of the lady expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation towards Assam Rifles for providing them with the much required medical assistance, the PRO informed.
