Imphal, November 14 2022: Directorate of Information and Public Relations will observe National Press Day on Novemberl6 at MSFDS auditorium during which the Manipur State Journalist Award-2022 will be presented in 8 categories.

The National Press Day is observed every year all over India and is symbolic of a free and responsible press in India.

It was the day on which the Press Council of India started functioning as a moral watch dog to ensure that not only the press maintains the high standards expected from this powerful medium but also that it is not fettered by the influence or threats of any extraneous factors.

November 16, therefore, personifies a responsible and free press in the country, said a DIPR release, adding that as a part of the observance, a seminar on "The Media's Role in Nation building" will also be held at the Preview Theatre of MSFDS.

Interested people particularly media persons/journalists and students of Journalism and Mass Communication can register their names through mobile number 7085926858 or on the spot for taking part in the seminar.
