Noney DM issues 'deposit airguns' order

In view of the arrival of the migratory bird Amur Falcon in various parts of Noney, district magistrate Sharath Chandra Arroju has on Wednesday issued an order prohibiting the use of airguns throughout the district.
The directive mandates that residents deposit their airguns to their respective village authorities.
Effective immediately, the order prohibits hunting, capturing, killing, or selling of migratory birds, including the Amur Falcon (locally known as 'Akhuaipuina'), within the district and surrounding areas.
The order specifies: "As these migratory birds have already arrived in many parts the district and in the last few days and are likely to roost till the end of November, and as this period is considered crucial in the life cycle of Amur Falcons, I, the district magistrate, Noney, hereby, order ban on all the air-guns in the district and order to deposit the same with their respective village authorities".
Village authorities of Longmai, Raengkhung, Awangkhul, Taobam, Khongsang, Rengpang, Nungba, Kambiron, Khumji, Nagaching, Kabui-Khullen, Puichi, Bakwa, Haochong, and other areas within Noney district have been instructed to submit report on the collection of airguns to the district magistrate's office by October 25.The order also warned of legal consequences for anyone violating these prohibitions.
