Expert team assesses land sinking in Noney

Noney, August 10 2024:
An expert committee constituted by the state government, led by the director of relief and disaster management, visited Longmai Part-1 village in Noney on Friday and assessed the impact of land sinking in the area.
The sinking has caused damage to more than eight houses and a telephone tower, with earth cracks forming due to the recent torrential rains.
The expert team included representatives from Geological Survey of India, earth science department of Manipur University, geology department of commerce & industries, and NIT Manipur.
The inspection was coordinated by officials of district administration, led by ADM Noney Stiff Khapudang, in collaboration with Longmai Village Authority and Thoubei.
The visiting expert team will compile a report based on their findings and submit it to the government within two to three days for necessary action.
