Imphal, July 21 2024:
Apart from giving a detailed account of the Manipur crisis to Special Rapporteurs and Associates during the 56th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) at Geneva, Switzerland, COCOMI spokesman and IPSA working president Khuraijam Athouba has lodged complaints against Prof Uday S Reddy with Birmingham Police and the Vice Chancellor of Birmingham University.
Athouba, in his complaint, pointed out that an FIR has been already registered against Prof Uday S Reddy in the State of Manipur by the local police authority for his involvement in the transnational ethnic conflict which has been going on in the border region of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh, particularly in the State of Manipur since May 3, 2023 .
With regard to this conflict, many fake account holders have been spreading false and misleading information on various social media platforms and media outlets to mislead the public, Athouba said in his complaint.
"In relation to the discreet activities of a group of experts who indulge in this disinformation campaign, it has come to our notice that Prof Uday S Reddy of the Computer Science Department of University of Birmingham is one of the members of this group.
He has been consistently involved in activities supporting the armed Chin-Kuki narco-terrorist groups which are at the forefront of the ongoing violence in Manipur (India)", he wrote.
Prof Uday S Reddy is using his Super Editor status in Wikipedia to manipulate and rewrite false information on the violence in Manipur on Wikipedia platform.
He has been directly participating in many online meetings and giving advice and suggestions to those groups which are actively involved in the ongoing violence.
"We suspect he could be a member of the larger transnational narco-terror network originating from the Indo-Myanmar border region and spreading globally", the COCOMI spokesman wrote in his complaint.
It then urged both the Vice Chancellor of Birmingham University and Birmingham Police to keep a close eye on Prof Uday S Reddy"s activities by monitoring his social media accounts and checking his bank accounts for any unusual transfer of narco-terror funds.
He (Prof Uday S Reddy) appears to hold multiple social media accounts with different fake names such as Kautilya33, Kautilya3, etc on X platform, and for the record his X account has been blocked for the past few weeks by the Meta company, it added.
While interacting with the Special Rapporteurs and Associates of UNHRC, Khuraijam Athouba pointed out that the ongoing violence in Manipur is not a religious conflict nor an ethnic clash entirely.
He asserted that the violence is a big issue of narco-terrorism and demographic imbalance resulting from cross-border influx.
The Government of India has also been waging a proxy war using foreign mercenaries who are operating with the help of the Indian Army to suppress the revolutionary groups of Manipur.
For this very reason, the Government of India has been watching the more than 14 months old crisis silently, Athouba told the Special Rapporteurs.
The COCOMI spokesman also tabled a number of reports on human rights violation and systematic suppression of the indigenous people by the Government of India.
The Special Rapporteurs, some of whom expressed keen desire to visit Manipur, agreed to help in organising a special sitting on Manipur during the 57th session of UNHRC which would be held in September where a detailed and comprehensive report on the Manipur crisis may be tabled.
In the meantime, COCOMI has been working to table a detailed report on the armed movements of India"s North East region particularly Manipur, counter insurgency operations, illegal immigration, emergence of a new Golden Triangle and narco-terrorism.
The COCOMI spokesman also interacted with the Manipuri diaspora living in the UK and Europe at London.
He told the Manipuri diaspora how Prof Uday S Reddy has been distorting the history of Manipur and spreading false information on the Manipur crisis on social media platforms including Wikipedia.
Prof Uday S Reddy has even claimed that the Kukis are an indigenous community of Manipur, Athouba said.
It is suspected that some Kuki groups hired Prof Uday S Reddy to distort the history of Manipur and spread false information on the Manipur crisis, and he took not less than Rs 2.5 lakh from the Kuki groups for writing a single page of false information on Wikipedia, Athouba added.
Athouba also sought cooperation and support from the Manipuri diaspora in the UK and Europe as well as the people of Manipur for his visit to the next UNHRC session in September.
