Imphal, May 20 2022: A combined team of Bishnupur commando and a column of 31 Assam Rifle of Loktak Battalion arrested two persons including a Myanmar National along with arms and ammunition from Torbung Bazar in Bishnupur district while another team of Bishnupur police seized 1.06 kg of opium from Leimatak, today.

The seized arms and ammunition include five 0.32 MK-II pistols along with 10 magazines and five live rounds.

Addressing the media at Bishnupur today, Additional SP (Ops) M Roni said that the combined team carried out intensified checking at Torbung areas on receiving specific inputs about transportation of arms from Churachandpur towards Moirang side today.

Saying that one Maruti Dzire with two occupants was detained for verification during the drive, the police officer maintained that the duo was identified as T Kamminthang (42), s/o (L) Ginsuan of Tongciin, Tonzang, Myanmar staying at Lungthul village, Churachandpur and Thangbiaklal Ngaihte (35), s/o Lalmalsawm of Nehru Marg, CCpur.

The combined team found the arms and ammunition on checking the car, he said.

They have been handed over to Moirang police station along with the seized items.
