Suspected bandh supporters at Tadubi in Senapati district of Manipur along NH-39 stoned and broke the windshields of at least four goods carrying trucks even as over 150 vehicles including 25 inter State passenger buses are stranded Friday at Mao gate owing to the 24-hour Senapati district bandh imposed by the Senapati District Fair Price Shops and Agents Association blaming the district authoritys apathy in distribution of PDS items, reports NNN.
The district level bandh which commenced midnight of Thursday was called in protest against the failure of the district authority of Senapati district to supply PDS items regularly to the fair price shops stating that it has hampered in making on time distribution to the beneficiaries.
The bandh will however end Friday midnight.
Meanwhile, suspected bandh supporters stoned and broke the windshields of at least four goods carrying trucks out of about 10 that were heading towards Imphal at Tadubi, Senapati district along the stretch of the national highway.
Following this incident, about 10 trucks are reported to have been stranded at Tadubi due to fear being attacked by the protestors..
And reports from Mao gate informed 25 inter-state passenger buses which arrived Friday morning are stranded there owing to the bandh which is reported to be more affective at Mao area as all shops and other establishments in the hill town bordering with Nagaland are closed for the day.
The report also further said more than 150 trucks are also stranded and unable to proceed to Imphal with the commercial goods as they were blocked by the protestors.
