Imphal, January 03:
Denying the charges of barring villagers of Khullen Khailet, a Zou village in Sajik Tampak area, from acquiring job cards under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and from opening bank accounts apart from trying to take over the village, information and publicity secretary of UKLF TH James Bond has asserted that Khupkang Zou who is being projected as the chief of Khullen Khailet is none other than the chief of army of Zou Defence Volunteers.
Talking to mediapersons somewhere in Chandel district today, James Bond said that Khupkang is an ex-serviceman of Assam Regiment who connives with UG groups operating from Sajik Tampak for carrying out extortion from the people.
In fact for his nexus with the UGs, his pension benefit had been annulled by Rajput Rifles.
Khupkang is not the real chief of the village and he has been misusing the benefits of the schemes given to the village by the Government in the name of his father, James Bond said, clarifying that there is no question of UKLF interfering into any cases related to land dispute nor would ever do so in future.
UKLF had not abducted the said person nor had ever summoned him in any connection, he further clarified.
James Bond charged Khupkang with helping UG groups to launch attack on army camps and planting landmines in Somtal and Dingpi area.
Just before Christmas, UGs had attacked an army camp at Aigizang following the information provided by him, he said, adding that Khupkang does not stay at Khullen Khailet but at Imphal.
The land dispute in Khullen Khailet had also been already resolved by Chadel District Kuki Chief Association, Kana Area Kuki Chief Association and Gumpi Area Chief Association, James Bond said, while reiterating that there is no involvement of UKLF in this case.
Khupkang and all his family members should surrendered to UKLF within December 15 and lodged their complaint to the relevant authorities.
Otherwise, they would not be spared, James Bond warned.
UKLF has also strongly condemned the killing of chief of H Gamnom village Hemkhogin Haokip and demanded to know the explanation over the killing from concerned party or individual.
