Imphal, February 28 2023: A 19-year-old youth was arrested by a team of Imphal West District police commando led by OC Inspector P Achouba Meetei from Singjamei Parking, here, on Monday.

The arrested youth has been identified as Phundreimayum Wakil Ahmad (19) s/o Phundreimayum Sharif khan of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Ullom.

Addressing media persons at his office, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta informed that during a frisking and checking carried out by Imphal West district police commando led by OC Inspector P Achouba Meetei at Singjamei parking on Monday a white colour Tata Magic (MN04A 9902) was stopped for checking and found Wakil who was travelling in the vehicle carrying 5 suspicious plastic packets.

The plastic bags were opened in the presence of gazetted police officer DSP (commando) Imphal West Y Kishorchand Meitei and found brown sugar inside the bags.

Wakil was arrested and handed over to Singjamei police station for further interrogation.

Upon interrogation, Wakil revealed that the brown sugar was handed over to him by a person from Lilong with instruction that it would be collected by a person in Imphal.
