Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) Farmers' Wing convenor K Thoiba Meetei has urged the state government to disperse the compensation for farmers, whose crops were left damaged by the hailstorm on May 5, at the earliest.
In a statement to the press, Thoiba said that the fierce hailstorm on May 5 ravaged the state, damaging houses and crops, and leaving the people and the farmers in particular in difficult condition.
While the chief minister had announced compensation for all those affected, the departments concerned also carried out surveys to assess the damages, noted COCOMI Farmers' Wing while urging for adequate compensation and alleviating the suffering of the farmers, whose efforts and labour have all gone waste in the hailstorm.
