Security forces recover arms, ammunition

Security forces recovered several arms and ammunition during search operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas in hill and valley districts in the past couple of days.
According to a statement, dated October 22, of police common control room, one each .303 rifle with two rounds and magazine, pumpi medium with stand, single barrel (12mm), long-sleeved camouflage jacket, camouflage magazine pouch, and camouflage pant were recovered from Lamzang forest hill range, near Bongbal village in Churachandpur district.
Further recoveries were made in Tharoilok area of Churachandpur, where two locally made pumpis with 5-foot barrels, two Go-mia power gel explosives (25mmx125g), two electric detonators, a local made 9mm pistol with magazine, three local made improvised hand grenades, and two shells of local made pumpi were seized.
In another search operation near Wabagai Buffalo Farm on Wednesday morning, security forces recovered one INSAS rifle, a country-made 9mm pistol with magazine, three carbine magazines, three 36 HE hand grenades, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, four casings of INSAS rifle, 10 casings of AK rifle, two tear smoke grenades, four tear smoke shells, a handheld radio set of Baofeng brand, a BP jacket, and a pair of black leather boots, all packed in a plastic sack.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles in collaboration with Manipur police, recovered weapons and warlike stores (WLS) from both hill and valley regions in Chandel and Thoubal district.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in Chandel district, the joint team carried out search operations in areas between Songkhom and Gunjil villages on Tuesday, recovering one FGC-9 Mk-II automatic weapon (9 mm), two local-made mortars (Pompi), one single-barrel gun, ammunition and war like stores.
In another operation on Wednesday, AR and Manipur Police searched general area of Kwarok Maring village in Thoubal district, and recovered one 9mm country-made pistol, one single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) gun, two grenades, ammunition and war like stores.
The PRO stated that the recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
