"Registration of private veterinary hospitals on card"

The Veterinary and animal husbandry department is set to introduce a bill to ensure mandatory registration of private veterinary hospitals and clinics, according to veterinary and animal husbandry minister Khashim Vashum.
Speaking at an interface meeting on mobile veterinary units, held at the Farmers' Training Hall of the directorate office near Sanjenthong, here, on Saturday, the minister announced that a committee has been formed to frame the bill, which is expected to be implemented as an ordinance after getting the approval of state cabinet.
The minister highlighted the importance of addressing the licensing issues faced by private veterinary establishments and emphasised the need for sincerity and diligence among departmental staff.
He noted that the success of the department's projects, which are sanctioned based on performance, requires a holistic approach and dedicated efforts.
During the event, the minister also reviewed the vaccination status against diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), brucellosis, Classical Swine Fever (CSF), and lumpy skin disease.
The interface meeting, organised by the directorate of veterinary and animal husbandry services, saw the participation of key officials including veterinary and animal husbandry secretary Michael Achom, director Dr RK Khogendrajit, deputy director, ICDP project officer, and other officers of the directorate.
Discussions during the meeting focused on progress of mobile veterinary units, activities in the poultry sector, and licensing & registration of private veterinary hospitals and clinics.
