MEELAL calls for MM in police logo

Imphal, October 18 2024: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba, Kangleipak (MEELAL) has urged authorities concerned to incorporate Meetei Mayek (MM) in the logo of Manipur police headquarters at Mantripukhri before its official inauguration.

In a statement, MEELAL informed that it made the appeal in light of the recent discovery on social media and in newspapers about the upcoming inauguration of the police headquarters whose logo is devoid of officially recognised Meetei Mayek.

The police department will also respect the initiative of MEELAL for preservation and development of Meetei Mayek, it added.

The script advocates ex pressed regret that most government functions and programmes, do not accord importance to Meetei Mayek.

The statement, however, noted efforts and contributions of chief minister N Biren in implementation and promotion of Meetei Mayek and expressed optimism that the government will continue to play an active role in the promotion of language and script of Manipur.
