Irawat Remembrance Day, birth anniversary observed

Imphal, October 01 2022: The Citizens Association for Rural Development (CARD), Wabagai observed Irawat Remembrance Day at Wabagai Lamkhai Supermarket on Friday.

As part of the observance, various competitions were organised and prizes to winners of the competitions along with meritorious awards distributed.

Presided over by CARD president H Kishawarjit, the observance was attended by Wabagai MLA Dr U Deben as chief guest, while DC Kakching S Somorjit, ZP Wabagai M Jayantakumar, Wabagai GP pradhan Y Hem-chand and Kakching District United Clubs' Organisation president Th Chaoba were present as guests of honour.

Advocate T Lucky Meetei also attended and spoke as main speaker.

Sharma Arts and Crafts House (SACH) also observed Irawat day at its Khongman complex on Friday with theatre personality Padmashree 'Ima' Sabitri as chief guest, SACH chairman B Mahendra Sharma as president and Khongman GP pradhan Moirangthem Nungshirei as guest of honour.

Konsam Ibomcha, who has been awarded Padmashree in the field of doll making, was also felicitated on the occasion.

Similarly, Taning Development Club, Mayanglangjing organised Irabot Day by paying floral tributes at Mayanglangjing Taining community hall as Langmeithet Youth Development Association (LYDA) observed the day on the theme 'Rejuvenate the sense of patriotism in youths' at Langmeithet in Thoubal.

Meanwhile, Lamdaibung Social Welfare Club (LSWC) and Singjamei to Lilong United Club Organisation (SLUCO) observed Irabot day at Lamdaibung community hall and Temple of Universal Peace Awareness cum Arts and Culture Academy (TUPAACA) Manipur, Art and Cultural Academy (ACA) Thoubal and Taibang Maheikol Thoubal Wangmataba Mathak Leikai at Taibang Maheikol hall.

Kekru Yairi Club, Yairipok observed the day by organising cleanliness chive under the jurisdiction of the club and paying floral tributes to the photo of Irabot.

The 126th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot was also held at Tarou Meitei Leikai in Agartala.

The observance was jointly organised by Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura and Takhel Leima Teng-bang Lup.

Floral tributes were paid and a two-minute silence observed as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

Sahitya Parishad also observed the day at Agartala Dhaleshwar, Marup Organisation at Bishalgarh and Leikon Organisation at Dharmangar located at North Tripura.

On the other hand, Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation along with local clubs of Hatta Golapati conducted cleanliness drive at Hatta Golapati in connection with the observance of 126th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot while Neinasang Club also observed Irabot day at the community hall of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai.

On the occasion, the Club also felicitated Yumnam Thomas, who bagged second position in the 70th National Fitness Body Building Championship organised by Indian Fitness & Body Building Federation.
