Alert kid girl saves grandma, sibling

Imphal, October 18 2024: A five-year-old girl saved her grandmother and her one-and-half-year old brother from drowning in a local pond at Yumnam Khunou Mamang Leikai on Friday.

According to a statement issued by Youth Development Club, Yumnam Khunou Mamang Leikai, one Ahanthem Sanathoi (66) w/o Ibocha cradling her 1.5 year old grandson Lanthoiba Singh, slipped from the steps and fell into the pond while trying to fetch water around 6.30am Friday.

Sanathoi's five-year-old granddaughter Linthoinganbi, who was following behind, immediately raised an alarm for help to which locals rushed in and rescued the elderly woman and her grandson.

Sanathoi is currently under treatment at Shija Hospital, while Lanthoiba is in a stable condition, the release informed.
