Imphal, July 11 2024:
Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Education Demand convenor M Somojit has appealed to the state government and all concerned not to disturb the education sector of the state in any way, adding that once the education system fails, the future of the state will become irrecoverable.
On Thursday, the Committee (AMCTA, AMRPSWA, MGHSLWA, DARSOM, AMSGO, AMESTA, CESM, COTA, PSDC, CASA, AMTIA, AMSSTA, AIMS and DESAM) launched a sticker campaign for disturbance free education zone demand along with Little Flower School Vans' Association at Kwakeithel.
During the campaign, which will end on July 15, stickers will pasted on school vans.
Speaking on the occasion, Somojit recounted that since June 5, 2008, DESAM along with other like-minded groups have been raising voices for making education sector disturbance free.
However, with outbreak of the ethnic conflict, disturbance to education sector is increasing rapidly.
The government also seems to have forgotten to look after the education sector over the past few years.
As such, he urged all concerned to stop disturbing the education sector which would impact the future of the state.
He then informed that the demands of the campaign include putting a stop to exorbitant monetary or goods demands on education institutions, for the government to stop politicising education and formulate policy to maintain school days in a year not less than 220 days, to enforce education guidelines in timely manner to avoid inconveniencing the students, avoiding nepotism, corruption and favouritism in any education related jobs and preventing the education sector from further degradation.
