Workshop on women empowerment held

A one-day training workshop on "Women Empowerment through Agri-Allied Farming" was organised at Haochong village in Noney district on Friday.
The event was a collaborative effort of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) and Haochong Farmer Producer Company Ltd, aiming to empower women in remote hill areas by enhancing their knowledge of modern scientific farming techniques.
The inaugural function was attended by key dignitaries, including MSCW chairperson Thumplip Tiningpham Monsang, rrtember Chuongsin Koireng, SDO/BDO Haochong James Pani, and project executive for CBBO under Central Agricultural University, Nepolean Shaiza as presidium members.
The workshop focused on reaching out to grassroots women farmers in remote areas, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to improve traditional farming practices.
Throughout the workshop, many experts from different sectors provided valuable insights Discussions included financial literacy awareness, where SBI Noney branch manager Ramas Ria-mei emphasised the importance of financial literacy for women farmers.
The district horticulture officer of Noney elaborated on modern horticultural practices to boost production, while district veterinary officer Noney, Dr Poulinliu Gonmei highlighted the significance of livestock vaccination and insurance for maintaining healthy livestock.
The session also covered scientific farming techniques, presented by the district agriculture officer, Noney, who shared insights on improving crop yield.
In addition, a representative from Canara Bank, Noney discussed various schemes and provisions available to farmers, and MRB Noney branch manager Elvis Phaomei underscored the importance of developing saving habits among farmers.
An expert from KVK, Tamenglong/Noney spoke on integrated farming systems, which combine various agricultural practices for better results.
