The Directorate of Health Services has notified that all those dealing with drugs and cosmetics without proper and valid drug license will be considered as illegal and liable for initiation of punitive action.
According to a notification issued by N Rimotkumar Meetei, who is the State Licensing & Controlling Authority, Directorate of Health Services, any individual dealing with drugs and cosmetics without a valid license issued from Drugs Control Administrative under the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur is to be seriously dealt with and taken as illegal under section 18 (c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and punishable under Section 27 (b) (ii) (imprisonment of one to three years with fine) of the said Act.
The notification further informed that during checking and verification process of the registry of Drug Licenses maintained in the Directorate of Health Services, cases of doubling of Qualified Persons have been recorded and these persons are instructed to rectify immediately to avoid cancellation of drug licenses and pharmacy registration.
Moreover, qualified persons who are government employees (contractual or daily wages, etc.,) are also instructed for rectification to avoid penal provision under Fundamental and Services Rules.
The notification also warned proprietors of Wholesale drug licences practicing retail business of initiating legal procedures if not stopped immediately.
