Imphal, October 11 2008:
In pursuit of the goal for Zalengam and ensure that the ongoing movement do no deviate from its intended direction top leaders of the Zomi Re-unification Front (ZRF) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its commander in-chief PS Hangshing somewhere in Churachanpdur district.
The meeting held on September 27 is said to have been convened for revival of ZRF the armed wing of the conglomerate Kuki National Organisation (KNO) after the Front parted ways with the Zoumi Revolutionary Army in 2002 and remained in a low profile for some time.
Speaking to media persons somewhere in Churachandpur district ZRF's commander in-chief PS Hangshing conceded that the organisation had not been able to carry out its task for the past few years but such dormant state has to be shrugged off in order to carry forward the 'survival for unity' motto towards attaining Zalengam (Kuki homeland).
The meeting, which was also attended by leaders of the KNO resolved to sustain the movement with the support and cooperation of the society and reform the Front through appointment of five cabinet members, he conveyed.
The ZRF cabinet members include Jacob Kuki as chairman (custom), Minou Kuki as finance secretary, Robin Kuki as the town commander, task of information and publicity entrusted to Krish Kuki and Clief Kuki assigned to function as the project officer.
Stating that these five individuals have been authorised to take the movement to its logical end and authorised to deal with any situation in their respective jurisdiction and assignments, Hangshing further cautioned all concerned against defying principle or insistence of the ZRF.
He strongly advocated that without a unified movement the struggle for a common goal being launched by different organisations of the hill districts would be an exercise in futility and called upon like-minded organisations to share information and extend cooperation.
Further conveying that ZRF is committed to work for the cause of the people, the commander in-chief also sought unequivocal support of the people to sustain the movement.
