Okendro talks tough against unfair means in exams

Assuring that several constructive measures would be taken up to ensure smooth conduct of this year's matriculation and higher secondary examination, which are to be conducted by BSEM and COHSEM respectively, Education Minister M Okendro has informed that Micro-Observers will be deployed to inspect private exam centers apart from entrusting respective DCs with the responsibility to thwart any wrongdoing during the examinations.
The Education Minister was talking to media persons at the office of SSA at Babupara on Saturday.
Okendro informed that a total of 25050 students will be appearing higher secondary examination to be started from February 16 while 34843 students will be facing matriculation examination to be commenced from February 17 .
Department of Education (S) and Education (U), RMSA and SSA will assist BSEM and COHSEM in conducting the examinations smoothly.
District wise DC and SP will also be asked to extend logical support, he said.
Maintaining that committees headed by district wise DC will be formed to select officers- -in-charge and invigilators of exam centers, the Minister made it clear that teachers of those schools from where students are going to appear in the examinations will not be made as invigilators for students of the particular school.
He cautioned that strict action will be taken up against those who provide exam notes to students during the examinations by registering FIRs to the concerned police stations.
40 flying squads for higher secondary and 35 for matriculate examination will be formed to check students from using unfair means during the examinations.
Computerized Coding System will be used for conducting this year's matriculate examination, Okendro added.
24 council centers and 36 private centers will be set up for conducting the higher secondary examination.
There will be 9953 students in the council centers while 15092 students in the private centers.
On the other hand, 31 board centers and 57 private centers will be set up for matriculate examination.
There will be 6200 and 28447 students in the board and private center respectively, he further informed.
Pointing out that there had been instances where students used unfair means in last year's examinations, the Minister assured that those CBSE schools set up without the consent of the government will be scrutinized.
He stated that training for government teachers is being held from time to time to impart them with gainful knowledge.
Minister Okendro reiterated that the government has been making earnest efforts to strengthen education sector in the State.
