Irregularities in Yaithibi Loukol acquisition alleged

Kakching, May 27 2022: Kakching Zila Parishad up-adhakshya Md Nazimuddin contended that re-survey of Yaithibi Loukol, where the government acquired large tract of farmland for construction of National Sports University in 2014-15, found many irregularities.

Addressing a press meet hosted by Yaithibi Loukol Land Owners' Association on Friday, Md Nazimuddin said that they found several plots, which were not sold by the land owners to the government, and third-party getting land compensation with fake land registration documents during the resurvey exercise.

Following strong protest from the land owners, the government carried out resurvey at Yaithibi Loukol from April 28 under the leadership of AS and SO Thoubal M Ningthembi and resurvey of half of the area (21 plots involving around 70 households) has been completed so far.

Out of the 21 plots, which include both farmland and homestead land, one plot was found sold to the government with fake land holding documents while there were no documents of the owners selling their land to the government for the remaining 20 plots, he said.

At the same time, resurvey for 40 plots out of 78 plots of farmland has also been completed with five plots found sold to the government with fake land documents upon checking the sales deed and registration documents.

The government officials have not been able to produce sales deed and registration documents for many of the remaining plots, he said while urging the officials to complete the resurvey work at the earliest by producing sales deed and registration documents.

He also ap pealed to the government to investigate the fraudulent activities involving six plots by using fake land holding documents.

Md Nazimuddin further said that the official survey for the area was conducted in the 70s.The survey was conducted by riding boats.

As a result, there were differences with Dag number mentioned in the official record with the actual land area, he said, while urging the authority to rectify these anomalies during the resurvey exercise.

He also appealed to the government to lift the ban on paying tax, selling, buying and transfer of land holding rights in the area at the earliest.

Those, who have not sold their homestead land or farmland to the government, are putting up signs that read 'NOT SALE' in their respective plots.
