SKABU holds fasting & prayer service for exam candidates
Source: Chronicle News Service

Senapati, February 01 2023: Senapati Karong Area Baptist Union (SKABU) on Wednesday organised a one day fasting and prayer service for candidates appearing in the class X examination, 2023 at Poumai Baptist Church, Senapati.

Attended by around 500 candidates, the programme was held in the presence of different school principals, teachers, hostel wardens and parents/guardians of the candidates.

Poumai Baptist Church (Senapati) pastor Ng David Sha spoke on the theme, "The power of prayer"; Katomei Baptist Church pastor Rev Nethaniah Khayi on "Well begun is half done"; Emesiiphro Baptist Church pastor Pfokrelo Matthew on "Don't procrastinate"; and Zeliangrong Baptist Church (Senapati) pastor D Wipibou on "Fruitfulness".

Pastor Ng David Sha stated that it is not only to pass the examination but dedicating one's life to God counts during this season as successful in one s life is the most important.

"When one prays, one gets closer to God and prayer is the tool to get closer to God", he said.

The pastor added that nothing is impossible with God and asked all candidates to commit their ways to the creator.

Referring to Aristotle's famous quote "Well begun is half done", Rev Nethaniah Khayi said that many students ruined their lives when attracted to other interests and not confined to what one should do.

By realising one cannot do things alone, one requires to dedicate and sub mit to God to help himself/ herself.

Just as King Solomon began his career well with God, all candidates should begin their studies With the help of God by praying, he exhorted.

Pastor Pfokrelo Matthew' stated that procrastination turns God s blessings to curse as procrastination means the act if wilfully delaying doing something that should be done.

The pastor also advised the young learners that one who always procrastinate their works will land one in poverty and misery.

When students procrastinate in their studies, one shouldn't blame their parents or teachers for their failure, because studying for the exam is not only for HSLC exam but for the rest of their lives, he added.

Pastor Wipibou told the candidates that trusting God will never go in vain but certainly bear fruits.

Just as parents and teachers expect good results in the examination, God also expects a fruitful life from everyone, he said.

Rev K Daniel, president SKABU, led special prayer and blessings for all the candidates who will be appearing the high school leaving certificate examination, 2023 which is scheduled to commence on March 16 .

The organisers informed that similar programme will be organised for Class XII ap pearing candidates on February 3 at Rikhumai Tungjoy Baptist Church at 7:30 am .
