Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) has issued a strong statement demanding immediate restoration of mobile internet services in Tamenglong and Noney districts, as well as along NH-37 is in the larger interest of the people and commuters who rely on these highways.
In a statement, RNCM said that Rongmei community has actively supported efforts to restore peace and harmony in the state.
They have played a pivotal role in assisting governmental agencies and communities in ensuring uninterrupted supplies of essential goods and services along NH-37, stretching from Jiribam to Imphal, since the onset of the present crisis in the state.
While acknowledging the security concerns associated with restoring and using mobile internet during this crisis, RNCM highlighted the severe disruptions caused to fundamental services.
Services such as banking, postal services, hospitals, schools, and online education have been completely halted.
These interruptions have resulted in significant losses and inconveniences for all segments of society, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and business, both in the district headquarters of Tamenglong and Noney, as well as in rural areas.
Consequently, RNCM ap peals to the government to take all possible measures to restore mobile internet services or provide alternative internet solutions within one week to alleviate the hardships faced by the public.
It also warns that if the situation persists, public protests along NH-37 may become inevitable, the statement added.
