CM Biren attends Tiranga Concerts at MSFDS
Source: Chronicle News Service / DIPR

Imphal, August 10 2024: Since the Assembly session is going on, the issues of the state should be debated in the House and made clear to the people.

However, making nonsensical and careless statements on platforms not suitable for responding degrades the principle of democracy, Chief Minister N Biren has stated.

The CM made the statement during the occasion of "Tiranga Concerts", a part of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, organised by Department of Art and Culture, at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) , Palace Compound, here, on Saturday.

Biren continued that both the parliament and assembly are places to debate the issues plaguing the people.

During the sessions, all documents are presented with to discern the facts and inform the people of what is going in the state/country.

It is the responsibility of elected members to debate and make the people aware of the government's policies.

What should not be done is to instigate one another which would be a loss for all.

If one is a leader, he/she should be in control of his/her emotions and communicate with the people to help the latter understand, the CM contended.

CM Biren appealed to the people of the state to volunteer in cleaning the statues of freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the motherland and pay floral tribute for their sacrifices.

He continued that the freedom and dignified life which we enjoy today are because of the selfless sacrifices made by our great leaders.

He further appealed to the ministers and MLAs to organise lunches at different relief camps on the Independence Day and have it together with the inmates.

He also asked elected representatives to talk with the inmates to address the problems and grievances.

Maintaining that a sense of nationalism and patriotism had been aroused amongst the people of the country after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, Biren said that it was PM Narendra Modi who took Yoga to the international level by proposing in his address at the United Nation's General Assembly.

He stated that under the initiatives of PM Narendra Modi, G20 events were held across different parts of the country during Indian Presidency of the Summit.

Delegates from different countries visited various corners of the country.

Such initiatives brought a sense of belongingness amongst the people, he added.

In continuation, initiatives like Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in the country have brought sense of nationalism, unity, and oneness among the people, he stated, while instructing the DGP for conducting a mass motor bike rally on August 15, with mass participation from the youth.

He also appealed to the people of Manipur to participate in rally, street play, marathon and painting competitions organised under the campaign.

Further appreciating the principals, officials, and the students of colleges in the state for singing national anthem and state song during morning assembly, Biren maintained that this initiative has evoked consciousness of unity, discipline, and nationalism amongst the people.

He continued that unity, discipline and nationalism are the foundation of a strong nation.

We must strengthen our nation to be self-sustain and thus will help in protecting the nation and its people.

Raising concern on the current challenges face by India due to the current changing geopolitical scenario, he also stressed the need to make our country strong to successful tackle the challenges ahead.

If we are patriotic, no agency can threaten the stability of the country or state, he asserted.

During the function, Manipur University of Culture artistes presented a Pung Cholom performance, Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College artistes performed a patriotic song and a dance choreographed on Tiranga Anthem by Government Dance College was showcased.

The programme was attended by Works minister Govindas Konthoujam, Water Resource minister Awangbow Newmai, IPR minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, CAF&PD minister Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Veterinary minister Kashim Vashum, MLAs, DGP Rajiv Singh, administrative secretaries, officials of Art and Culture Department and renowned artistes of the state.
