National Seminar on 'NC-ECFCS 2023' held

Imphal, March 29 2023: Manipur University Chemistry Alumni Association and Department of Chemistry jointly organised a national seminar on 'The Merging Challenges in the Frontier of Chemical Science (NC-ECFCS 2023)' at the Department on Wednesday.

The seminar was attended by Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan as chief guest and MU Department of Chemistry head and Conference chairman Prof N Rajen Singh as president while MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh and School of Mathematical and Physical Science dean Prof S Dorendrajit Singh were present as guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ranjan emphasised that in view of rapid changes witnessed across the world 'we need to keep pace with the changes'.

No one expected the huge impact of COVID-19 pandemic but science, particularly chemistry was instrumental in battling the pandemic, he said and continued that the Department of Chemistry, under strict adherence to standard protocol, assisted in mass production of hand sanitiser.

The minister also exuded confidence that the national seminar will help in coming up with new ideas, while appealing to all concerned to be always prepared for unforeseen situations.

As part of the programme, an appreciation certificate was presented to the department for production of hand sanitisers.
