Floral tributes paid to heroes of Anglo-Manipur War

Imphal, April 22 2024:
Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891, Martyrs & Freedom Fighters, Kangleipak organised the 133rd commemoration of the heroes who fought valiantly against the British forces in the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 by paying floral tributes at IPSA's Keishampat office on Monday.
In a release, Justice Committee informed that the observance was held in a simple manner owing to the present unsettling situation.
Recalling how Thangal General, Kalasana, Sagolhanjaba, Sannaganba Lourungpurel, Loitam Mukta Major, Yengkhoiba Major, Laisraba Major, Chinglen Sana, Longjamba Poila, Major Tamna and 1000 unrecorded soldiers bravely fought the well-armed Silchar column of the British force led by Lieutenant Colonel RHF at Ngariyan, Zoujangtek, Khujamlok, Khuaikhou and Leimatak, the committee stated that more than 10 soldiers of Sana Konung sacrificed their lives for the motherland in the battle.
The committee commemorated the day to honour the brave ancestors who sacrificed their lives for protection of Manipur.
The release further urged chief minister, ministers and MLAs to set up historical site for the battles of Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 and also to install statues of the heroes.
