Army holds medical camp on World Hypertension Day

Commemorating World Hypertension Day, Indian Army organised a mega medical camp at Khurkhul village in Imphal West district on Friday as a part of Op Sadbhavana Project, a component of the Military Civic Action led by the Army Field Hospital under Spear Corps.
According to PRO Defence, the medical camp catered to needs of women, children, and elderly from neighbouring villages, as well as internally displaced persons residing in nearby relief camps.
It offered comprehensive medical check-ups, including access to ultrasonography facilities and the provision of medications.
To ensure all-round healthcare services, a dedicated team of Army doctors and specialists, including orthopaedicians, medical specialists, and gynaecologists, was mobilised from civil government hospitals.
Furthermore, the camp went beyond mere consultation by providing essential medical equipment to individuals suffering from various conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Bronchial Asthma, Litnbdisabil-" ities, and bedridden patients.
Equipment such as glucometers, BP machines, nebulisers, lumbar belts, crutches, walkers, and diapers were distributed.
A total of 700 locals, comprising 155 elderly people, 130 children, 370 women, and 45 men, benefitted from the services provided.
The villagers expressed profound gratitude towards the Indian Army for facilitating access to medical equipment and comprehensive healthcare services, said the PRO.
On Thursday, Army conducted an awareness lecture and medical camp for internally dis -placed people and neighbouring villagers at Torbung Bangla wherein army medical officers provided essential healthcare services, offered comprehensive medical check-ups and facilitated access to medications through a distribution counter.
The event included a lecture on hypertension, focusing on its health implications and preventive measures.
At Leimakhong military station, troops commemorated World Hypertension Day and World Food Safety Day with a series of lectures conducted by Army medical officers.
These sessions delved into the root causes of hypertension, advocated lifestyle modifications, and stressed the importance of regular health check-ups for disease prevention, added the PRO.
Indian Army also organised a dual-pronged approach to mark World Hypertension Day on Friday.
At Wonghon, Yaingangpokpi, the Army conducted an awareness lecture and medical camp for internally displaced persons and neighbouring villagers.
Army's medical officers led the charge in proving essential healthcare services, which were supplemented by a medicine distribution counter for accessible medications.
The focal point of the event was an enlightening lecture on hypertension and its health implications, according to a press release.
Simultaneously, the Indian Army commemorated World Hypertension Day with a series of lectures delivered by Army's medical officers.
The lectures discussed the causes, preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and necessity of regular health checkups for disease-free living.
The lectures aimed to empower troops with knowledge and encourage proactive health management, the release added.
