Imphal, October 18 2024:
Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) wrote to the chief secretary/commissioner (vigilance) to issue requisite directive for registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and initiate strict legal action against the principal and other faculty of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) for alleged misappropriation of over Rs 1 crore public fund.
As per the letter signed by KKL secretary, an order for 70 dental chairs for JNIMS Dental College amounting to Rs 1,13,71,500 was placed with Astik Dent Traders.
Accordingly, the JNIMS Dental College principal submitted an installation report to the JNIMS director on November 10, 2020 informing that the dental chairs have been fully installed in the relevant departments.
However, when the Dental College Development Committee inspected the 70 dental chairs, many wrongdoings and faults were found.
Subsequently, a three-member independent expert committee including representatives of Dental College JNIMS, Directorate of Health Services and Health & Family Welfare looked into the matter.
Thus, KKL urged for handing over the matter to an independent authority such as the CBI and take up strict legal action against all those who misappropriated the public fund.
