Imphal, August 31 2024:
Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan has declared that the road leading to Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, Tarung and Neikalong from Fisheries junction will be developed within September 5 including black-topping from his side in view of inconvenience faced by the people, even if the government does not sanction fund.
According to MLA Joykisan, there are schools and hospitals along the road from Fisheries junction to Sinam Leikai but students and patients taking the road are facing serious inconvenience due to bad condition of the road, consequently forcing locals to decide to repair the road if government ignores the same within a week' .
Being elected representative of the constituency, the announcement from the locals to develop the road on their own hurts my conscience, Joykisan said, who also noted that preparations for the Imphal ring road began during the time of Congress government with the tender process ongoing.
As per government norms, no fund could be sanctioned for any project under tender process.
Such norms, however, cannot be applicable when road condition becomes awfully bad and suffering of the people intensified, he reasoned.
MLA Joykisan further said that he will enquire works minister and chief minister on Saturday to ascertain if there is any plan of the government to repair the road.
If not, repairing of the road including black-topping will begin within September 5 my side, he declared.
On the other hand, MLA Kh Joykisan inspected the flooded area from Kendra Vidyalaya to Guiganglong on Friday.
He said that waterlogging in the area for more than 50 days might be over soon as the water resources department has intensified operation of the water pump at Shamushang Uku to drain the excess water.
