Mapithel Dam Affected Ching Tam Association has appealed to the newly formed high level committee led by IFCD Minister to include the association as the legal local authority of the committee.

A high level committee consisting of eight Ministers of the State and Phungyar A/C MLA led by IFCD Minister was constituted to investigate the matter, with the IFCD as the nodal Department.
He appealed for their association, which was formed at Nongdam Tangkhul village in 2008 by villagers living in the downstream areas of the Mapithel Dam, to be included as the legal local body in the committee.
He also appealed to the committee to invite the association while holding talks or meetings regarding the issue.
Takhellambam Somoijit stated that the main problems faced by the villagers living in the downstream areas are the rapid decline in the resources they get from the river as a result of the construction of the dam and the failure of the State .Government in providing Rehabilitation and Resettlement package compensation.

their compensation.
