Post-mortem exam of Nonganba's body conducted

Imphal, February 16 2023:
The post-mortem examination of Akoijam Nonganba alias Aging of Kwakeithel Konjeng Awang Leikai, who was found dead on February 11, was carried out at RIMS Morgue on Thursday.
However, his family is yet to claim the body.
The autopsy was carried out in the presence of Kangpokpi District Executive Magistrate, Kangpokpi Police, JAC and Nonganba's family with video coverage.
In this regard, JAC convenor Th Ashalata stated that the post-mortem examination was not carried out with aim of claiming his body but to assist in the ongoing investigation and prevent loss or tampering of any evidence/clue.
Informing that Non-ganba's body will not be claimed until the truth behind his death is revealed, she urged the authority concerned to take serious note of the matter and ensure the culprit(s) responsible are punished accordingly.
She then cautioned of launching intense agitations in case of failing to do so, while seeking the support of the people and CSOs of the state in this regard.
It may be mentioned here that Akoijam Nonganba had gone for a drive with his girlfriend on February 11 but was found dead the next day at Changoubung under Kangpokpi PS.
Suspecting foul play in his death, Nonganba's family and his locality formed a JAC, demanding the truth behind his death and also refused to claim his body until the truth is revealed.
In connection with the death, police had arrested NSCN-IM deputy Kilonser Moses Gonmei.
However, as the investigation is still ongoing, no concrete report has been provided to the bereaved family.
