AR pays tribute to fallen heroes

Chandel, November 01 2026: Sehlon Assam Rifles paid solemn tributes to three bravehearts, Subedar (GD) Ramesh Bahadur " Thapa, Havildar (ORL) Samuel Kutty G and Lance Naik Anup Kumar Biswas, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty at Sehlon in Chandel district.

A press release by the Assam Rifles said that the soldiers laid down their lives during a fierce encounter with insurgents on 31 October 2009 while safeguarding the peace and security of the region.

To honour the memory of the fallen heroes, a solemn commemorative ceremony was organised by Assam Rifles at the War Memorial in Sehlon, Chandel district.

All ranks of Assam Rifles paid homage to the gallant soldiers by laying wreaths and offering floral tributes at the War Memorial.

A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect and remembrance, acknowledging their courage, selfless service and supreme sacrifice.

Their supreme sacrifice remains etched in the proud legacy of the Force, serving as a lasting reminder of the devotion with which troops discharge their duties in the region, added the release.
