Bishnupur, December 30 2024:
The first foundation day of All Meitei Pangal Youths' Association (AMPYA), which was formed under the motto "Empowering Youth Securing Tomorrow" in December 2023, was celebrated at Kwakta Khu man Public Ground, on Monday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti noted that outsiders have been interfering in the affairs of Manipur as the various communities focus and priorities individual community concerns rather than uniting to address the broader issues of Manipur as a whole.
He opined that if people of Manipur can come together as one and focus on the common challenges faced by the state, no external force or community will be able to harm Manipur.
The MLA further highlighted that success in any endeavour cannot be achieved when driven by emotion rather than reason.
While acknowledging the contributions of the Meitei Pangal community during the crisis that erupted on May 3 last year, he pointed out that certain individuals are attempting to exploit these contributions for their own benefit.
Shanti called for identifying those individuals who are trying to tarnish the image of the Meitei Pangal community.
COCOMI media coordinator Y Surjitkumar Khuman, who was also present at the event, stated that it is becoming increasingly clear that the ongoing crisis in the state is, in fact, a proxy war orchestrated by the government of India.
To confront such devilish design, time has come for the people to unite, he pointed out.
FOCS president Manihar also remarked that, amid the ongoing crisis, it is evident who is supporting the Kukis.
He urged the elected representatives of the state to reclaim the powers that have been taken away from them by the central government.
The function was also attended by AMPYA president Maulana Hafijuddin, social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Youth Affairs and Sports joint secretary Sheikh Abdul Hakim, United Naga Council working committee convenor Samson Ranmei, Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation president Boboi Korimayum, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation president Imtiyaz Heibokmayum, Manipur Youth and Students' Union president Wahengbam Tanu Chanu and leaders of various organisations.
