Rhythms of Manipur enthrals audience in Vietnam

A 10-member troupe of Rhythms of Manipur returned home after a successful week-long tour in Vietnam, where they performed at the Festival of India,"Namaste Vietnam".
The festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces, captivating the Vietnamese audience with their fine fusion music performances.
Hosted by the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, the festival featured Rhythms of Manipur on its inaugural day, August 25, at the Rex Hotel.
The troupe performed fusion music numbers, including the nationally acclaimed composition "Dancing Drummers" and the state song "Sana-leibak Manipur.
"These performances continued for the next two days, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed, according to a press communique sent by Rhythms of Manipur.
The inaugural event was attended by diplomats from various countries stationed in Ho Chi Minh City, high-ranking Vietnamese officials, and members of Indian community, all of whom were enthralled by the Manipuri artists' performances.
The Consul General of India, Dr Madan Mohan Sathy, officially opened the festival by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In addition to the inaugural day performances, Rhythms of Manipur also performed at various sessions, including the education, business, and investment seminar of the festival held on August 26 at the Rex Hotel.
The Indian Education Fair/Conclave featured representatives from several Indian educational institutions, such as Symbiosis International, Guru Kashi University, and Amity University, who discussed opportunities and collaborations with their Vietnamese counterparts.
On August 27, the troupe performed at the India-Vietnam Cultural Night held at Tra Vinh University in Tra Vinh Province.
The event featured traditional dance performances by the university's students and was warmly received by the audience, which included mostly students and teachers.
The Rhythms of Manipur performed their award-winning music composition "Dancing Drummers,' the state song, and patriotic songs of India, which were greatly enjoyed by all present.
In addition to the Rhythms of Manipur troupe, other performances on the inaugural day included a troupe from the Government Dance College, Imphal, sponsored by the state government; an Odissi Dance group sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), a Bollywood dance group from Mumbai, and Vietnamese fashion shows.
It is noteworthy that Rhythms of Manipur has a rich history of international performances since 2013, having successfully showcased their talent in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Laos, Bangkok, Surin, and Port of Spain at various festivals and events.
Their performance at Namaste Vietnam has further cemented their reputation as one of the outstanding cultural ambassadors of India.
