Nemcha aids IDPs, visits pre-fab houses

Textiles, Commerce and Industries minister Nemcha Kipgen distributed financial assistance to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kangpokpi district's Champhai sub-division on Sunday.
The assistance marks the fourth One-Time Assistance from the Government of India, aimed at providing clothing and personal belongings to people in relief camps.
Nemcha handed over Rs 1000 each to the IDPs at DIET Centre, Leikop relief camp in the presence of Kangpokpi DC Mahesh Chaudhari, ADC Shokhongam Baite, AC to DC Samuel Misao, SDO (Champhai) Lamminlal Simte, and other officials.
Over 2000 IDPs of 11 relief camps in the sub-division received the financial assistance during the event.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the central government for its tireless efforts and benevolence for well-being of the IDPs in various relief camps, minister Nemcha encouraged the IDPs to use their talents arid skills to sustain livelihoods by availing various government schemes.
She also announced plans for a handloom cluster for those interested in weavirig and suggested that the district administration open a shop for the IDPs to sell their handloom and handicraft products.
The minister further motivated the IDPs not to lose hope, assuring them that they would eventually return to normal life.
She further urged them to be strong in prayer and support each other during these challenging times.
Meanwhile, the minister accompanied by the DC, ADC and Champhai SDO visited the nearly completed pre-fabricated houses at Ngahmun village where the district officials informed the minister that the houses capable of accommodating .around 150 families will be completed within two to three days.
She also advised the district administration to ensure a clean and hygienic environment in the pre-fabricated houses.
