Kamjong, October 23 2024:
In an initiative aimed at environmental conservation, the Assam Rifles in collaboration with local village authorities organized a mass tree plantation drive at Wanglee village in Kamjong district.
The plantation drive specifically targeted local youth and school students, underlining the urgency of preserving forests and safeguarding natural resources for future generations, said a press note issued by IGAR (S).
Altogether, 250 saplings were planted in public areas and along the Wanglee-Kasong Road, marking a collective effort to rejuvenate the local environment.
The day began with an informal interaction with Assam Rifles officials.
A total of 25 locals participated in the event, including four representatives from the Wanglee Village Council.
The participants also joined the Assam Rifles personnel in a cleanup drive of the village and its surroundings.
