Proposed Kuki-Zo rally called off in Ukhrul, Kamjong

The proposed rally of the Kuki-Zo community was called off on Saturday in both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts in the interest of fostering mutual relationship among the different communities in the region.
In a statement, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Ukhrul district Department of Information & Publicity explained that following a deliberate and extensive discussion for the healthy environment within KSO Ukhrul jurisdiction and taking into account the sentiments of other student body, they decided to call off the rally.
They stated that moving forward, there should be no other authority exercising power over the KSO, Ukhrul jurisdiction.
The statement further urged the public to avoid any actions that might disrupt relationships with the community concerned, promoting understanding and mutual respect.
Reports reaching here informed that similar measures were taken in Kamjong district, leading to the cancellation of the proposed rally there as well.
It may be mentioned that on August 30, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) had officially declared that no rallies, dharnas, or similar protests by the Kuki-Zo community would be allowed in their jurisdiction, which covers both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, in order to maintain peace and neutrality.
Meanwhile, sources from the Litan police informed that there was no public assembly related to the proposed rally, which was earlier proposed to take place from Zelenbung village to Sangkai village via Mahadev along the Ukhrul-Imphal road.
Police personnel were deployed at Mahadev Junction to manage possible disruptions, but following the cancellation of the rally, the situation returned to normalcy.
