State level quiz, waste-to-product contest held on Ozone Day

Imphal, September 16 2026: Marking International Day for Preservation of Ozone Layer, Samagra Shiksha State Implementation Society Manipur under the aegis of Eco Club for Mission Life organised a State level quiz and making products from waste materials competition today.

The competitions were held on the theme "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Solid Waste" at Chanura Leikol, Imphal East.

Speaking on the sidelines, State Coordinator (Elementary) of Eco Club for Mission Life, Samagra Shiksha Manipur, H Nomita said students selected from zonal and district level competitions participated in today's State level event.

While essay competition was also held at district level, only quiz and product making were held at State level.

Students of Classes 6 to 8 participated in the quiz, while product making was held in two categories - Classes 3 to 5 and Classes 6 to 8 .

She said the programme aims to sensitise students about Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 and orders of the Ministry and Supreme Court, and to bring a more effective solid waste management system.

It also provides a platform to showcase students' creativity, she added.

Over 100 students took part in the competitions and winners were awarded prizes.
