Imphal, November 29 2017:
ll Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has demanded the State Government to nullify the results for the selection of Government College Principals .
Speaking to media persons at Adimjati complex, Ching-meirong today, ATSUM's education secretary Kakai Singsit conveyed that the result for the selection of Manipur Government College Principals conducted by MPSC was announced on November 27.He expressed disappointment that none of the 14 selected candidates belong to ST and claimed that if the examination had been conducted properly, 3 or 4 of the selected candidates would have been ST candidates as per the reservation norms.
Singshit lambasted the MPSC claiming that every recruitment examination conducted by the commission is rife with controversy .
He vehemently opposed the Academic Performance Indicator (API) criteria of the selection process for College Principal, stating that it is not an easy task to get 400 API points by a sitting Principal as he/she would have to take part in various National and international seminars as well as write various thesis.
It is not possible for a sitting Principal to take part in such tasks due to time limitations, he claimed .
Singsit further alleged that MPSC framed such rules and regulations with the purpose of making it impossible for tribal candidates to fulfil the necessary criteria .
He further questioned the motive behind requirement for 400 API points by the MPSC while other States have low requirements, like Assam which only requires 162 API points and demanded the State Government to nullify the result at the earliest.
